Great Day of Hope

October 16 & 23, 2010

McKinney Church has the privilege of partnering with a handful of excellent local ministries that are reaching people for Christ in our community. Great Day of Hope is an effort to help these ministries by sending teams to each of our local ministry partners and some other great local ministries and churches to serve them and with them in some very practical ways. If you’ve never had the chance to serve in the community, and especially if you have, Great Day will be a great way for you and your family (or some friends) to get a glimpse of what’s going on and help out. It’s like a free mission trip – no shots needed!

Join a team from McKinney and serve one of our local missions partners for a day. Living out the example of the Good Samaritan who demonstrated compassion to a stranger in need in Luke 10, where Jesus concludes by saying, "Go and do the same."

Last year some 350 people made a difference by serving with Great Day. This year we will be sending teams on both October 16 and October 23rd. This allows us to better serve our partners by spreading our teams out over two different days (thus keeping them more manageable) and will enable us to take on multi-day projects.

Each day we will have a breakfast rally at McKinney at 8:30 a.m. and head out in teams from the church. Or you can meet up with your team on location later in the day (maps will be provided). Depending on the project, teams could be on site until noon or for some until mid-afternoon.

You might want to go with your Adult Fellowship or small group, or just join any of the teams listed below. And if you don't know which one to choose, we'll be glad to offer a suggestion.

Older kids can probably join in on most teams. Younger children are welcome but will need to be supervised.  There will be no childcare provided during the day.

A few teams need some people with some special skills - there will be a place on the sign-up card to indicate if you have any of these skills. But what is most needed are lots of helping hands and servant hearts.

Volunteer for one or both days!

If you would like to be involved, please contact missions@mckinneychurch.com.
