ABOUT NORTH AFRICA

 

Our destination for this trip is described as one of the most progressive and open societies in the Arab world. The government maintains a secular tone, with severe repression of fundamentalist Muslims, and only a minority actively practicing their Islamic faith. Most are more committed to secular dreams of wealth.

This location has a typical Mediterranean climate, and is actually a popular European tourist destination, known for its ancient ruins and Hollywood movie settings.

There are a number of new believers and new church groups that have come into being over the past few years. However, Islam is the state religion and the church is still a tiny proportion of the total population.


ABOUT KIM & JENNY GARRITY AND THEIR MINISTRY

Kim & Jenny serve with the EuroTeam arm of Greater Europe Mission and live in Germany. Kim is head of short-term trips and construction – he helps organize and lead work teams to complete building projects on churches and other ministry sites throughout Europe and North Africa. We sent a team to work with Kim in Ireland in 2008.


ABOUT THE MISSION

We will be taking a team of 10-15 to do construction for a French-speaking International school. This school is officially recognized by the government, and actually plays a strategic role in furthering the Great Commission in this country.

Our exact project has yet to be determined but the school is in the process of expanding capacity in order to accommodate recent growth. Our team will be a tremendous blessing to their ministry.

Kim assures us that there are plenty of things women can do on this trip that will contribute to the overall purpose and fit within accepted cultural roles.

There will also be an opportunity to tour some early church history sites, as well as an optional 3-day safari excursion at the end of the trip.
